Projects vs Ideas

Planelo is built on a simple yet powerful model. Once you understand the relationship between Projects and Ideas, your workflow becomes effortless.

Context is everything. Projects provide the 'where', Ideas provide the 'what'.

Projects = Context

A Project is a container for related thoughts. It’s the "folder" for your thinking. Use projects to separate your work life, personal growth, and specific shipping targets.

Example Projects

"Planelo App", "Life Admin", "Marketing 2026", "Indie Dev Journal"

Ideas = Atoms

An Idea is a single, atomic unit: a task, a bug, a feature request, or a quick voice note. Ideas are designed to be captured fast and organized later.

Example Ideas

"Add V2 dark mode", "Fix Stripe webhook", "Draft blog post about API", "Verify encryption at rest"

Finding the right balance

The secret to a usable system is finding the right granularity.

Too Broad

If a project can't be explained in one sentence, it's likely too noise-heavy. Split it up.

Too Narrow

If a project has only 1–2 ideas and never grows, it’s adding friction. Merge it into a larger context.
